Innovative Techniques & Case Studies

PEMF Therapy and Neubie Theory techniques are incorporated into Transcendent Physical Therapy's practice to bring you the newest innovations in healing and recovery.

PEMF Therapy

iCare PEMF therapy is an app-based system that uses a phone or tablet to run personalized pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) protocols via a connected mat or pad. It converts sound frequencies from the device into a low-frequency electromagnetic field, which is then delivered to the body through the pad to support cellular function, promote healing, reduce pain, and improve overall wellness. The system allows for convenient at-home use with customized, practitioner-approved protocols that can be sent to the user's device.

How it works

  • App-based frequency generator: The iCare system relies on a free or paid app that plays specific sound frequencies (measured in Hertz).

  • Connected pad: A felt pad with two copper coils connects to your phone's audio jack. The pad converts the sound vibrations into a pulsed electromagnetic field.

  • Delivery to the body: When the pad is placed near your body, the PEMF is delivered, interacting with cells to elicit positive changes.

Key features and benefits

  • Customized and convenient: Protocols can be customized by a healthcare provider and sent to your device, allowing for home use between appointments or as a maintenance program.

  • Promotes healing: PEMF can help accelerate tissue repair and is used for conditions like non-union fractures, post-operative pain, and chronic wounds.

  • Reduces pain and inflammation: The therapy can decrease pain and inflammation in muscles, joints, and bones by stimulating the body's natural healing processes.

  • Improves cellular function: It supports cellular communication, which is crucial for the body's adaptation and regulation processes.

  • Enhances relaxation and sleep: Some users report reduced stress and improved sleep quality with regular use.

Neubie therapy

Neubie therapy is an innovative, FDA-cleared treatment that uses a patented direct current (DC) electrical stimulation device (the NEUBIE, short for Neuro-Bio-Electric Stimulator) to retrain the nervous system and accelerate the body's natural healing processes. It is primarily used in physical therapy and rehabilitation settings.

Key Features and How It Works

  • Direct Current (DC) vs. Alternating Current (AC): Unlike most traditional electrical stimulation (e-stim) devices that use alternating current (AC), the NEUBIE uses a unique pulsed direct current (DC). This DC signal more closely mimics the body's natural electrical signals, allowing it to interact more effectively with the nervous system and promote accelerated tissue healing without causing the skin burns typically associated with constant DC application.

  • Neuromuscular Re-education: The central principle is that the nervous system controls all muscle movement. Injury, surgery, or chronic conditions can disrupt this brain-muscle connection. Neubie therapy helps "re-educate" the nervous system, restoring healthy communication pathways and correcting dysfunctional movement patterns.

  • Active Movement: A key differentiator is that treatment with the NEUBIE is active, not passive. Patients perform guided, functional movements or exercises (e.g., squats, walking drills) while receiving electrical stimulation. This combination helps the brain and muscles learn new, more efficient, and pain-free movement patterns in real-time.

  • Assessment and "Mapping": Therapists use the device to perform a "body scan" or "mapping" to precisely locate areas where the nervous system is underperforming, restricted, or creating guarding mechanisms (often called "hot spots"). This immediate, accurate feedback allows for highly targeted, personalized treatment plans, eliminating a trial-and-error approach.

Who Can Benefit

Neubie therapy is suitable for a wide range of individuals. From those recovering from post-surgical and post-traumatic injuries to people with chronic pain who have not responded well to traditional therapies.

While safe for most patients, it is generally advised against for those patients with deep vein thrombosis, pregnant individuals, or patients with pacemakers.

Many patients report feeling noticeable improvements in pain and mobility after just the first session.
